15. mm Frame The slimmest profile depth in the series.
- Accordion Fold The mesh folds and narrows to the side.
- Spring-Free Layout Cord tensioning; stays where left.

## Who Is the 15 mm Pleated Insect Screen For?

- Shuttered Windows
- Narrow Frames
- Inside Fit
- Slim Profile

The slimmest frame — it goes where no other series fits.

- Stock Code: FS-PSN-01

- Availability: Manufactured on Order

- Brand: FENETRE

- Category: Pleated Insect Screens

Frame, rail and mesh are cut to the 15 mm profile. The system is delivered with its tensioning complete.

In the slim series the frame slips into tight spaces inside the frame recess; fitted inside, the profile almost disappears. The accordion [mesh](https://www.fenetresystems.com/en/pleated-insect-screens/) works with a cord-tension mechanism instead of a spring or drum and holds wherever it is left.

Seats inside the frame with screws or [clips](https://www.fenetresystems.com/en/pleated-insect-screen-installation-types/). On shuttered windows the frame fits the gap left behind the shutter rail.

Where the recess is too shallow, the same series mounts on the outer face — the fixing layout is planned from the options on the mounting-types page.

- The clear width and height of the opening are written down in centimetres.
- The recess depth inside the frame is measured; where a shutter exists, the rail-to-frame distance is also noted.
- The direction the sash gathers to and the fixing surface are stated.

Depth is the deciding measurement. A photo of the frame recess and the shutter gap is requested together with the measurements.

## The centimetres behind the shutter

As modern shutter systems move closer to the frame, a finger-width gap remains between the rail and the frame. A standard screen frame does not fit there — the 15 mm series is produced exactly for that space.

The industry figure for the gap the slim series needs is around 16 mm. On frames left below the 18 mm threshold that standard frames ask for, this series becomes the only option.

If the recess is under 16 mm as well, inside fitting becomes impossible — in that case the same frame is moved to the outer face and the mounting turns to outside fit.

## What the slim frame looks like

As the profile depth shrinks, the part protruding from the frame plane shrinks too. Seen from outside, the system reads as a thin line over the joinery.

On buildings with architectural restrictions, historic fabric and facades with high visual sensitivity, this slimness is decisive. White, brown, dark brown, black and mink tones bring it close to the frame colour.

## The limit of slimness

A narrow section reduces the carrying margin. As the sash widens and passage frequency rises, the slim frame tires — panel sagging and rail wear begin at that limit.

On doors, balcony exits and wide openings the 25 mm and larger series are the right address. The 15 mm belongs to windows and narrow-recessed openings.

## Questions About 15 mm Pleated Insect Screen

What is the difference between 15 mm and 18 mm?

A 3 mm difference in frame profile depth. The mechanism and mesh are shared — 15 mm is made for the narrowest gaps, 18 mm for standard window recesses.

Can it be fitted on a door?

It can be installed, but that is not its main job. On doors with frequent passage the 25 mm and thicker series live longer — the 15 mm is window-oriented.

Does it really fit when there is a shutter?

Yes — this series exists for that very problem. Around 16 mm of gap between the shutter rail and the frame is enough; where it is narrower, outside fitting takes over.
