# Adhesive Pleated Blind

Adhesive pleated blind installation — the rail is bonded to the joinery with industrial tape. Surface prep, curing and removal details.

## Surface Preparation — 80% of the Mounting

The tape's hold is chemical. If surface preparation is missing even the strongest tape detaches.

1. **Dust and dirt are wiped** — The bead surface is first wiped with a dry cloth. A dust layer covers the surface the tape will bond to.
2. **It is degreased** — The surface is left oil-free with isopropyl alcohol or a suitable cleaner. Detergent residue is also an enemy.
3. **It is fully dried** — Tape does not hold on a damp surface. The surface must be fully dry — this means a few minutes.
4. **The position is marked** — The rail seats in one pass. Correcting the position the moment the tape touches weakens the bond.

## Curing — the Invisible Waiting Time

The tape holds at the moment of contact but reaches its full bond strength over time. No load should be applied in the first hours. Waiting up to 24 hours depending on the surface before dropping the blind is the safe side.

Cold weather slows the curing. In a winter mounting the joinery surface is expected to reach room temperature. A tape bonded onto cold glass may release itself at the first warmth of spring.

## On Which Surface Does Tape Not Hold?

- **Grained and textured PVC** — On a rough surface the tape touches only the peak points. The contact area falls short.
- **Dusting or peeling paint** — The tape must hold to the wall, not to the paint. If the paint is flaking the blind falls together with the paint.
- **Permanently damp surface** — Beside a shower cabin or on heavily steamed kitchen glass the tape's life shortens.
- **Siliconed joints** — The silicone residue at the bead edge is slippery ground for tape. It is wiped first.

## Removal — Leaving Without a Mark

The adhesive mounting's strongest promise is seen on removal. The tape warmed with a hair dryer softens and the rail separates from the joinery. The remaining tape residue is wiped with a cleaner. The joinery returns to its pre-mounting state.

This property makes the adhesive the first option for tenants, temporary offices and those not wanting to touch their joinery. Its price is clear. Tape does not carry as much load as a screw and is dependent on the surface condition.

## Surface Texture and the Weight Limit

The surface texture is also a condition. On a smooth PVC bead the tape makes full contact. On a textured, wood-patterned or frosted surface the contact area decreases and the carrying limit drops. On this surface the screwed or hooked option is the safe choice.

Temperature changes the tape's behaviour. On joinery taking direct sun in summer the bead can exceed 60 degrees and the standard tape softens. A heat-resistant tape series is produced for this condition. On south façades and glass-balcony applications the tape type is specifically asked.

The weight limit is the product's nature. The adhesive system is designed for narrow and mid-size pleateds. At widths exceeding one metre or on tall glass wanting a long drop it is directed to screw mounting. A tape forced past its limit does not let go quietly — it lets go overnight.

## The First Week After Bonding

On the first day not opening and closing the joinery is recommended. Sash movement gives the freshly bonded tape a repeated pulling load and loosens the bond not yet cured. A single day of patience makes the tape work for years.

The second critical point is the first-week check. If lifting starts at the tape edges an early intervention saves the unit. The surface is re-wiped and a spare tape set is applied. The spare tape is in the product package for this purpose.

## Questions About Adhesive Pleated Blind

Does an adhesive pleated blind fall?

On the right surface, with the right preparation, it does not fall. Almost all falling cases stem from mounting on a dirty, damp or textured surface. The problem is not in the tape but in the ground.

How much weight does it carry?

The tape connection is for light and mid-scale blinds. On wide or heavy-housed systems a screw or bracket is the right choice. The limit is looked at together with the blind width.

Can it be re-bonded after removal?

The tape is single-use. At re-mounting the old tape on the rail is fully wiped and new tape is applied. Otherwise the hold is unreliable.
