# Bracket-Mounted Honeycomb Blind

Bracket-mounted honeycomb blind installation — the cell rail is carried to the wall or ceiling. Rail weight chooses the bracket count.

## Why Is a Cellular Rail Carried to the Wall?

The honeycomb rail gets heavy on wide glass and the joinery surface is not designed to carry this load. Bracket mounting takes the load off the joinery and gives it to the building. The wall or ceiling carries the rail, the joinery stays load-free.

This distinction is critical on wide façades. A honeycomb rail exceeding three metres both strains the joinery and bends the rail when connected to the joinery. In a bracketed system the load is transferred not to the ground but to the wall.

## Which Surface Is the Honeycomb Bracket Bound To?

Honeycomb scenarios of bracket mounting to the wall, ceiling and niche interior
Surface — Scenario — Result
Upper wall surface — Niche-free window or shallow niche — The rail works in front of the window. The cellular fabric stands a bit away from the glass.
Ceiling — Floor-to-ceiling façade, tall glass — The rail hangs from above. A clean vertical finish on a long drop.
Niche inner side wall — Deep-niched window — The rail recesses into the niche. The position closest to the glass surface and the highest insulation.

## Technical Points in Bracket Alignment

- **Bracket count by rail length** — On a wide rail the bracket count rises. Rail bending spoils the cellular fabric's stacking.
- **The plug matches the surface** — The plug type changes by the wall material. A wrong choice lowers the bracket's carrying power.
- **Rail–glass distance** — If the cellular fabric is too close to the glass it rubs, too far it leaks light. The bracket size sets this distance.
- **Level is a must** — If the brackets are not on the same line the cellular fabric gathers tilted. A visual flaw and functional wear come together.

## The Bracketed Honeycomb's Strong Scenarios

- **Wide Façade Glass** — On living-room and office façades the rail is bound to the wall, not the joinery. The width limit lifts.
- **Double-Cell Heavy Rails** — On double-cell systems offering the highest insulation the bracket carries the weight safely.
- **Places Where Joinery Cannot Be Touched** — In a tenant's home or on a historic building façade the joinery is never drilled.

## Rail–Glass Distance on a Bracketed Honeycomb

The honeycomb rail's bracketed mounting gives a measured distance from the glass. When the rail's thick profile rests on the joinery bead the risk of the bottom rail's rubbing the glass arises. The bracket leg holds the rail a few centimetres in front of the glass and lets the cellular fabric descend free.

On a deep-jambed window the bracketed honeycomb lets the fabric pass the jamb line. For the cell package to descend without catching the jamb, the bracket size is taken by the jamb depth. This measurement is adjusted stepwise on the bracket in the field.

## Bracket Position on a Blackout Honeycomb

The blackout honeycomb's side guide channels are dependent on the bracket position. The channel's full contact with the glass surface is needed. The bracket leg is adjusted at the distance providing this contact. A gap left between channel and glass produces a light-leaking line and weakens the blackout function.

The channel pinning technique is independent of the bracket. The side channels hold to the joinery edge or the wall. The channel's being fitted straight lets the fabric slide inside without friction. A tilted channel strains the fabric and the open-close resistance rises.

The bracketed blackout honeycomb is the standard set-up of the bedroom and presentation volume. The rail is carried to the wall plane. The side channels close the edges and the window opening is covered wholly. Light leakage descends to the least in this arrangement.

## Questions About Bracket-Mounted Honeycomb Blind

Does a bracketed honeycomb rub the glass?

With the right bracket size it does not rub. The distance between rail and glass is taken with the bracket size. In niche mounting the rail approaches the bead line, in wall mounting it stands a bit further.

Is a bracket fitted to the ceiling too?

It is fitted. It is the standard solution on floor-to-ceiling glazed or niche-free façades. The ceiling plug is taken by the blind weight. On a reinforced-concrete ceiling there is no problem.

Does bracket mounting spoil the insulation?

No. The insulation comes from the honeycomb cell. Not from the connection point. Since the niche-interior bracket gives the rail's closest position to the glass it also shrinks the edge leakage.
