# Ceiling-Mounted Venetian Blind

Ceiling-mounted Venetian blind — the headrail fastens to the ceiling with plugs and screws. The upper route leaving the wall free.

## The Ceiling-Mounting Order

If the measurement is right the set-up finishes in four moves. Marking is half the job.

1. **The headrail line is drawn** — The plane the headrail will sit on is marked on the ceiling with a pencil; the window axis and the rail axis are brought on top of each other.
2. **The bracket levels are transferred** — The two ends and, if needed, middle points are divided equally. The corner points are kept outside the mechanism line.
3. **Plug and screw descend** — The plug is chosen by the ground type; standard for concrete, self-locking type for a suspended ceiling is used.
4. **The headrail is locked** — The headrail is seated into the bracket mouths and closed; vertical sag and the horizontal plane are verified by hand.

## Connection by Ceiling Type

The upper ground decides the connection. Every plane's plug is different.

Plug and screw selection on concrete, suspended-ceiling and timber planes
Ceiling — Connection — Attention Point
Concrete — Standard plug + screw — Full depth is descended; a loose plug sags the rail
Suspended ceiling — Locking metal plug — On a hollow ground the load is not carried plug-free
Timber cladding — Wood screw — A pilot hole advances without splitting the cladding
Cornice line — To the flat ceiling in front — A cornice carries no load; the screw descends to the plane

## When Is It Fitted to the Ceiling?

- **Floor-length window** — On full-height glazing where no wall share remains above the joinery the only plane to work on is the ceiling.
- **Curtain-rail-less volume** — In an interior having no curtain track the Venetian holds to the ceiling and covers the opening from the top.
- **Bringing the recess forward** — When the blind is wanted to run in front of the recess the ceiling connection erases the depth problem entirely.
- **Wide opening** — The headrail weight grows with size; a multi-point connection distributed to the ceiling divides the load across the plane.

## Level and the Drop Plane

A rail mounted to the ceiling carries the blind a few centimetres in front of the window plane. This share turns into an advantage on inward-opening sashes — the sash moves without touching the blind.

If a radiator, casing or furniture protrusion stands on the drop line the rail is positioned with a front-overhang share. The protrusion is noted at measuring and the slat line is produced accordingly.

## Questions About Ceiling-Mounted Venetian Blind

Can a Venetian be fitted to a plasterboard ceiling?

It can, with a locking cavity plug. A standard expansion plug does not hold in plasterboard; the right plug type is chosen during mounting.

Does a ceiling-mounted Venetian sag?

The bracket count is set by size and a middle point is added on a wide rail. On a correctly distributed connection the rail stays on its plane.

Can it be fitted onto the cornice?

It cannot; a cornice is not a load-bearing element. The rail is connected to the flat ceiling in front of it or the solid ground behind.
