# External Venetian Blind

The façade system meeting the sun before the glass. The guided slat stack is stable in wind, its control fully motorised.

## Guide Styles

Three arrangements holding the slat stack in wind. Section and height make the choice.

External Venetian blind guide styles and properties
Guide — Operation — Note
Side Guide Rail — Slats slide inside an aluminium rail — The highest wind-resistance option
Cable Tension — Bottom bar runs on a tensioned steel cable — Slim façade line; medium wind class
Combined (Rail + Cable) — Both guides together on large sections — Stability on wide façades

## Being Outside the Façade

Six results of moving from an interior blind to a façade system.

- Cuts Heat Before the Glass The solar load is met outside the façade; heat entering the interior falls noticeably.
- Flexible Slat C-form slats flex under wind load and return to form; the target is no permanent deformation.
- Step-Free Light Tilt angle is preserved; light redirection is done even outside the façade.
- Motorised Standard Lift and tilt run on the motor; the wind sensor is part of the system.
- Façade Integration The cassette works visible or recessed into the cladding — decided in the project detail.
- Project Scale On foreign systems 4.5 m width and 16 m² area are recorded; the section is verified in the project.

## Questions About the External Venetian Blind

How does it differ from an interior Venetian?

The external Venetian blind mounts to the outer face of the façade; it is designed with guided construction, flexible slats and wind resistance. An interior blind is not produced for these conditions.

How does it behave in wind?

The guide type sets the wind class. The rail-guided system gives the highest resistance; in strong wind the blind is brought to the gathered position — the sensor does this automatically.

Is a new building required?

No. Front-mounted cased units attach to an existing façade; in new projects the cassette can be recessed into the cladding and lost from the façade.

The interior counterpart of external shading is given in the [aluminium series](https://www.fenetresystems.com/en/aluminium-venetian-blinds/); on a façade opening outward the [zip screen](https://www.fenetresystems.com/en/zip-screens/) is the wind-secure alternative.

## Let Us Discuss the Façade Project

Once the façade section, partition layout and wind zone are relayed, a guide type and cassette position are recommended.
