# Hook-Mounted Duette Blind

Hook-mounted duette blind installation — the double-layer rail hangs on the glazing bead with hooks. Layer weight chooses the hook count.

## How Is a Double Layer Hung on the Bead?

The hooked duette mounting uses the same logic as the single-layer system. The hooks behind the rail catch onto the bead's top edge. No drilling or bonding. The difference is in the weight. The two fabric layers strain the hook's carrying limit early.

For this reason a hooked duette works at narrow and mid sizes. On a wide rail even if the hook count rises there is a load limit. At the right size it offers the mounting's fastest and cleanest form. The blind is hung and taken down within seconds.

## Where Does a Hooked Duette Make Sense?

- **Sash-Opening Window** — The rail hangs on the bead. When the window sash opens the blind turns with it. Even the double layer.
- **Frequent Take-Off** — At cleaning or seasonal use the blind comes down without a tool. The double layer comes out as one piece.
- **Undrillable Joinery** — On new joinery under warranty or in a tenant situation the surface is not touched at all.

## Measurement and Weight Check

- **Bead form** — The bead top edge the hook will pass is measured. Standard profiles are suitable, thin forms ask for verification.
- **Rail width** — The double-layer weight chooses the hook limit. As the width grows the hook falls short.
- **Sash movement** — The hooked rail turns with the sash. It is checked that the rail does not hit the jamb at closing.

## Where Is the Limit?

On a beadless glass surface the hooked connection does not work. Fixed glass partitions and directly bonded glass are not suitable for a hook. Also on wide double-layer rails the weight exceeds the hook. The screwed or bracketed type is recommended.

The gasket stiffness chooses the seating. On a tight gasket the hook does not seat, on a loose gasket the hold stays weak. A bead photo gives the suitability decision.

## Hook Size and Weight Balance on a Hooked Duette

In a tilt opening the duette's behaviour comes from the fabric. The double layer turns together with the sash without sagging at the tilt. The tension cords hold the fabric on the plane. This behaviour matters in volumes whose window is ventilated constantly.

The hook-profile fit is critical on a duette weight-wise. While three hooks are used on a light profile, a different hook size is needed on a thick profile. A wrong size both weakens the hold and produces sound at sash closing. The profile top-edge measurement is a required field on the order.

Removal is a single movement on a duette too. The hooks are lifted and the unit stays in hand. The double-layer fabric is stored uncrushed when removed and laid down. At seasonal storage or moving it is kept on a flat ground so the fabric does not crease.

## Hooked Duette on a Glass Balcony

A duette fitted to a glass-balcony sash gives heat and privacy together with its double layer. In the use where the balcony is converted into an interior the double-layer fabric produces a distinct temperature difference compared to a single layer.

The duette's behaviour during folding is related to the fabric thickness. The double layer takes more space in the gathered volume than a single layer. In an arrangement where the sashes fold fully the unit thickness is taken by the folding share.

Per-sash production is a must on a glass balcony. Each sash's glass width differs and the unit sits one-to-one on the sash profile. The sash count and single-sash measurement are written separately on the measurement form.

The wind condition limits the hooked duette on a glass balcony. On high floors the wind entering through the inter-panel gaps waves the fabric. The double layer's surface area is large and the position is adjusted by the wind load.

The hook count's relation to the sash width is taken in production. While two hooks suffice on a narrow sash, on a wide sash a third hook supports the middle line. The sash measurement chooses the hook arrangement directly and is entered on the measurement form.

## Questions About Hook-Mounted Duette Blind

Does a hooked duette fall with weight?

At the right size it does not fall. The rail's weight clasps the hook onto the bead top. On wide double-layer rails the limit is exceeded. In that case a screw or bracket is recommended.

Does removal ask for a tool?

No. The rail is lifted up and taken off the hook. The double layer comes down as one piece. No tool or screw.

Does the hook damage the bead?

The double layer's weight locks the hook onto the bead's top edge. There is no contact on the front and back faces. There is practically no mark risk.
