# Kitchen Honeycomb Blind

Honeycomb blind in the kitchen: cell insulation under the cooker-and-sink distance condition. Steam limit and fabric choice told together.

## Kitchen Analysis

In the kitchen the honeycomb decision depends on the window’s relation to the cooker and the sink. Single-cell fabric can absorb moisture and odour, so it is not fitted to the splash zone; with ~1 m of distance and a ventilation condition, [cell insulation’s](https://www.fenetresystems.com/en/honeycomb-blind-systems/) return is real on the façade-facing kitchen. It is the only blind class that insulates the cold glass edge ahead of double glazing.

### Distance Rule

It works on the window away from the cooker-and-sink splash zone; at a close position a wipeable venetian or PVC roller stands forward.

### Ventilation Condition

A hood or an open window vents the kitchen steam; moisture build-up inside the cell is thus prevented.

### Façade Insulation

The kitchen glass on the north and east façades is a cold surface in winter; the cell air brakes the heat loss.

### Diffuse Light

The harsh sun falling on the counter top softens as it passes through the cell; the work surface stays shaded.

## When Honeycomb Makes Sense in the Kitchen

The kitchen is the home’s highest moisture- and odour-producing room. The general rule says honeycomb fabric is not durable in this environment; the truth sits in the position: on a window standing away from the cooker-and-sink axis the fabric is not exposed to steam, and the blind’s real return — braking the heat loss at the glass edge — works in the kitchen too.

In a north-facing or wide-glazed kitchen the glass surface is the room’s coldest spot in the winter months. The air layer trapped in the cell brakes this cold spreading into the room; the difference is concrete for the person working at the counter.

The practical rule: if the window is closer than one metre to the cooker or the sink, an aluminium venetian or a PVC roller; if farther, honeycomb stands forward with its insulation return.

Application Notes

## Mounting & Selection for Kitchen

### Measure the Distance

If the horizontal distance from the cooker-and-sink axis to the window is above ~1 m, no fabric risk remains.

### Confirm the Ventilation

In a kitchen with a working hood, no in-cell moisture build-up occurs; in a weakly ventilated kitchen the wipeable option stands forward.

### Fabric Choice

Densely woven polyester fabric holds less odour than a loose texture; the tight-woven option is wanted in the kitchen variant.

### Alternative

On the window landing in the wet zone, aluminium venetian gives the same light control with a wipeable surface.

Once the distance to the cooker and the sink is stated, the honeycomb or the alternative system is chosen together.
