Zip Screen Application Areas
The outdoor spaces where zip (zipper-channelled) screens are applied. Balconies, terraces, pergolas, verandas, cafe exteriors and windy sunny façades.
Zip Screen Spaces
The zip screen is the only exterior blind system in which the fabric is locked with a zipper into two side channels. This connection does not let the fabric out of the channel in wind and makes the opening closed from all four edges. Everywhere interior blinds cannot go outside — the façade, the balcony, the pergola — is the area of the zip screen. It is exactly this closed barrier that extends the season.
Selection Notes
Points That Decide the Zip Screen Application
Wind Class Selection
Zip systems are produced by wind-resistance class. On open and windy façades heavy fabric and a strong channel are taken.
Motorised and Manual Options
On wide or frequently used openings the motorised system provides comfort. An automatic scenario can be set with a sun/wind sensor.
Fabric Openness Factor
The openness ratio of screen fabrics gives the balance of view and shade; ratios between 3%–5% provide a choice between privacy and the view.
Screwed Mounting on the Façade
The side channels and the top case are screwed onto concrete, aluminium or timber pergola surfaces. The carrying strength of the connection surface is checked before mounting.
