FENETRE Systems — Insect Screen and Pleated Blind Systems

Curtain Systems

Eight different arrangements of fabric, tube and mechanism — the technical roof of the interior mechanical blind family.

Roller Blind Systems

The same winding logic is built in five separate bodies — the body choice sets dust, light and usage behaviour.

Roller Blind system types, working styles and notes
SystemOperationNote
Bracket-Mount (No Casing)The mechanism is carried on an open bracketEconomical standard; wants no casing depth
Closed CasingTube and fabric gather inside a closed profileFrom the 50 mm slim series to fully closed; protects from dust
Side-GuidedFabric edges travel inside a railDoes not swing on slopes; reduces edge light
Dual SystemSheer and blackout on two tubes in one casingSheer by day, cover by night — one bracket
Reinforced WindingReinforced casing on tall blindsRuns motorised on long drops

Zebra Blind Systems

The sliding of sheer and opaque stripes stays the same logic — what changes is the body carrying the pack.

Zebra Blind system types, working styles and notes
SystemOperationNote
Standard Double LayerOne fabric in two plies — stripes slide to adjust lightThe classic and most widespread form
Cased ZebraThe double-layer pack works in a closed casingDust protection and a single-line look
Independent Dual MechanismThe two layers move independentlyHalf-open position; a clearer outward view
Blackout-BandedOpaque bands cut the lightBedroom — thin leakage remains at stripe gaps

Screen Blind Systems

It is not the body of the technical sun-filtering fabric that changes but its position — the same fabric does a different job inside and outside.

Screen Blind system types, working styles and notes
SystemOperationNote
Interior ScreenThe fabric hangs on the inner face of the glassOffice and south façade; openness 1–10%
Exterior Façade ScreenThe fabric works outside the glassCuts the heat before the glass; demands wind resistance
Side-Guided ScreenEdge-railed taut fabricA fixed plane on the opening; does not swing

Vertical Blind Systems

The rail and vanes work on the same mechanism — the vane material separates the usage area.

Fabric Vane89/127 mm fabric strips rotate and slideThe standard of offices and wide glazing
PVC VaneWipeable rigid vaneClinics, kitchens and humid volumes
Wood / Aluminium VaneRigid material stripsA prestige look and darkening
Panel GlideWide panels slide sideways on the railSliding doors and wide façades

Blackout Blind Systems

The fabric alone cuts the light; total darkness is completed by closing the edge leakage.

Blackout Blind system types, working styles and notes
SystemOperationNote
Standard BlackoutOpaque fabric descends freelyEdge leakage remains
Cassette BlackoutTop casing and side covers trap the lightPresentation and bedroom
Side-ChannelledThe fabric edge descends locked in a channelThe total-darkness goal; cinema room
Double LayerBlackout and sheer work on two tubesFiltering by day, darkening by night

Motorised Blind Systems

The motor is not a separate product but a control class applied to the other seven systems — the supply type makes the choice.

Motorised Blind system types, working styles and notes
SystemOperationNote
Mains-Powered230 V-fed tube motorWants a permanent power line; planned in new builds
Battery / RechargeableWants no supply lineThe wireless solution in existing buildings
SolarA panelled battery generates its ownHard-to-reach and powerless façades
Tilt + LiftBoth angle and raise motorisedDual-motion systems such as venetian and zebra

Roman Blind Systems

The gathering style is born of how the fabric is sewn — five forms work on the same mechanism.

Roman Blind system types, working styles and notes
SystemOperationNote
FlatThe fabric descends flat, pleats when gatheredThe cleanest display of patterned fabric
Hobbled (Broken Wave)The fabric keeps folds even when downA soft, layered look
Cascade (Sharp Pleat)Sewn pleats produce crisp foldsThe hotel line that keeps its shape
RelaxedThe bottom edge gathers in a curveOnly on light and soft fabrics
BalloonPuffy gathering at the bottom endsAreas where a decorative accent is wanted

Ceiling Blind Systems

On horizontal and sloped planes the fabric is carried under tension — free-hanging systems do not pass here.

Ceiling Blind system types, working styles and notes
SystemOperationNote
Tensioned SkylightThe fabric works taut on a wire or railRoof windows and small glass ceilings
Side-Railed CeilingGuided-rail sloped planeWide winter-garden sections
Pergola-Top TensionHorizontal fabric covering the openingOutdoor shading; gathered in rain

Mechanism Families

Eight models rest on four mechanisms — the right path is choosing the mechanism before the model.

Chained

The classic mechanism — winds the fabric with an endless chain. Chain length is set to the mounting height.

Spring/Chain-Free

A hand-positioned mechanism — the chain-free choice for child safety, on small-to-medium sizes.

Motorised

In-tube motor — remote, wall button and smart-home integration. The recommended path on large sizes.

Dual System

Roller + sheer or blackout + screen on the same cornice — two blinds in one mounting.

Blind Models in the System

Eight products working on the same mechanism architecture — the difference in working style sets the model.

Roller ↔ Zebra

  • Roller — single layer, either open or closed; the most economical path to darkening
  • Zebra — stripes slide against each other; light adjustment without opening
  • Because a zebra is double-layered, it gathers thicker at the same height

Measurement and Mounting

  • Recess mounting — depth equal to the casing diameter is needed; net measurement by survey
  • Wall face — the fabric covers the wall with a 5–10 cm overlap; light leakage drops
  • On chained systems the chain tensioner is fixed to the wall — child safety
  • A motorised mechanism is recommended on widths above ~2 m

Questions About the Curtain System

What is the distinction between roller and zebra?
A roller winds a single-layer fabric onto a tube — either open or closed. A zebra slides the plies of a double-layered striped fabric against each other to adjust light by degrees — light control without ever opening the blind.
Which mechanism is recommended on large sizes?
On widths above ~2 m a motorised system works more healthily than a spring one — the spring mechanism tires early under heavy fabric weight.
What should be done for child safety?
On chained systems the chain tensioner must be fixed to the wall. In homes with children, a spring/chain-free or motorised mechanism is recommended.
Recess-mount or wall-face mounting?
Recess mounting gathers the blind inside the frame and looks clean — the recess depth must suffice for the casing diameter. Without depth, the fabric covers the wall on wall-face mounting.

The application conditions of mechanism and carrier connections are listed on the Curtain Installation Types page.

Let Us Talk Measurements and Fabric

Once the window measurements and usage goal are relayed, mechanism and fabric are matched together.
