FENETRE Systems — Insect Screen and Pleated Blind Systems

Honeycomb Blind Systems

Air trapped in honeycomb cells — the technical core of the insulation-focused blind.

Honeycomb System Components

The honeycomb fabric is the heart of the system — the cell layer, mechanism and rail take shape around it.

Honeycomb Fabric

Hexagonal cross-section seen from the side — air trapped inside the cell forms a thermal barrier between the glass and the room.

Cell Layer

Single cell ~25 mm or double cell ~50 mm — the layer count sets the depth of the air pocket.

Lift Mechanism

Chain, cord, TD/BU and motor drive — quiet-motor series are available.

Rail and Casing

20–30 mm aluminium rail, hidden or decorative casing look — nearly disappears when the fabric gathers.

Cell Types

Cell depth sets the strength of the air pocket — two structures, two performance levels.

Fabric Classes

Three transmittance levels — chosen by the light and privacy needs of the space.

Questions About the Honeycomb Blind System

How does honeycomb fabric provide insulation?
Air trapped in the hexagonal cells forms a still layer between the glass and the room air. Because air is one of the poorest heat conductors, this pocket helps reduce heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer.
Does it have an effect on sound?
The cell air and the multi-layer fabric partially dampen sound waves — not full sound insulation, but a noticeable difference in echo and perceived outdoor noise in glass-fronted rooms.
Can it be made sloped or in special shapes?
Yes. It works on roof windows, sloped winter-garden glazing and arch-shaped joinery with guided mounting — the fabric stays taut in every position.
Does it need maintenance?
The fabric is antistatic-treated, so it does not hold dust. Dust gathering inside the cells is cleaned from outside with a soft-brush vacuum attachment. The fabric is not washed.

How the five connection types are applied to the cell system is shown on the Honeycomb Blind Installation Types page; the spaces each model works in are listed in the application areas.
