Horizontal Duette Blind
Double-layer honeycomb sliding on the side axis. The double-buffered companion to the sliding opening’s biggest heat leak.
How Does the Horizontal Double Layer Work?
Its fundamental difference from the vertical duette is travel direction.
In this arrangement the double-layer honeycomb folds left-right rather than up-down. The panel stays suspended in the side rails; pulled, both layers gather to one edge together.
It shares the sliding door’s logic: the panel slides toward the wall or fixed glass and the passage opens completely. Closed, the nested cells raise a double buffer over the entire glass surface.
Wide glass doors are the façade’s biggest heat leak; even in the horizontal arrangement the double-cell geometry does not break — a two-layered barrier remains along the glass.
Standout Parts of the System
Side rail, double-layer panel and gathering cassette are the system’s identity.
- Side-Axis TravelThe double-layer panel moves on the horizontal axis, not vertically; the passage stays free.
- Double Pocket on the Sliding FaçadeClosed on wide glass doors, the nested cells raise a double buffer over the huge glass surface.
- One-Hand PassageThe panel is pushed open; the path to the door clears completely.
- Cased GatheringThe panel stores in the side cassette, protected from impact and dust.
- Made to MeasureExact-measure production for wide sliding openings.
Who Is the Horizontal Duette For?
Places wanting cover + insulation on sliding and wide façades.
On sliding balcony and garden doors a vertical panel wants swing room; the horizontal duette slides in the door’s own direction and asks no extra space — and closed, the double cell wraps the glass’s weakest point.
On a wide glass façade the panel splits in two or gathers on one side; on twin rails two panels can meet in the middle.
For the lightweight single-cell alternative the horizontal honeycomb blind is described on a separate page; on a vertically opening window the standard vertical arrangement is preferred.
Frequently Asked

The window types where horizontal gathering is used are given in the application pages; its vertically opening sibling form works on the vertical system.
