Winter-Garden Honeycomb Blind
Honeycomb blind in the winter garden: it takes the strongest insulation duty on the glass shell; told with the condensation and humidity condition in view.
Winter Garden Analysis
The winter garden is honeycomb’s main field: the volume glazed on four sides cools like ice in winter and heats like a greenhouse in summer. The air trapped inside the cell is the only interior solution braking both ends — the cell fabric builds an insulation layer along the glass shell. The condition is honest: on the condensation-producing façade the fabric takes moisture, a ventilation and position plan is needed.
Heat Buffer
The glass shell’s winter-cold, summer-hot surface is separated from the room with the cell air; the difference is felt most here.
Condensation Condition
In the volume where condensation forms on the glass the fabric can take moisture; ventilation and the glass-fabric distance are planned.
Roof Glass
On the sloped upper glazing the tensioned order keeps the fabric straight; the same fabric continues with the side glazing.
Sun Cut
Diffuse filtering breaking the greenhouse effect in summer; the opaque variant gives a full cut.
The Glass Shell’s Second Skin
The winter garden is technically a shell made of glass: it both takes and gives heat fast. The honeycomb cell air weaves a second barrier inside this shell — in winter it slows the interior heat reaching the glass, in summer it brakes the solar gain before entering the room.
The limit starts here too: no moisture bridge must be built between the condensing glass and the fabric. In a ventilated winter garden with a planned glass-fabric distance the system is long-lived; on a façade whose condensation is unsolved the fabric wears first.
On the roof and side glazing the same cell language continues; on the sloped upper plane the tensioned rail keeps the fabric straight.
Application Notes
Mounting & Selection for Winter Garden
Glass Shell
The insulation return grows with the glass ratio; the winter garden is this product’s most efficient space.
Condensation Test
Whether the glass fogs in winter is checked; if there is condensation, ventilation is solved first.
Sloped Order
A tensioned system on the upper glazing; the standard order works on the flat side glazing.
Exterior Cut
If the sun is wanted to be cut at the glass line, an exterior zip system is considered.
