Adhesive Duette Blind
Adhesive duette blind installation — the double-layer rail bonds to the joinery with tape. Layer weight, curing and mark-free removal.
Does Tape Carry Two Layers?
The duette blind's double fabric layer draws the adhesive connection's clearest limit. A size carried comfortably on a single-layer pleated drops to half of the limit on a duette. The tape carries small and narrow duette rails safely. On mid and wide sizes the risk begins.
For this reason an adhesive duette is the solution of limited areas like a narrow window, kitchen glass, small bathroom window. On a large living-room glass a duette on tape is not recommended. A screw or bracket is the right choice.
Adhesive Duette Mounting Preparation
- 1
The size limit is verified
It is checked whether the blind size is inside the tape capacity. If the limit is exceeded the mounting type changes.
- 2
The surface is left dust-free
The bead is wiped with a dry cloth. The duette's one-piece rail wants the tape to contact the whole surface.
- 3
The surface is left oil-free
It is wiped with isopropyl alcohol and full drying is awaited. A damp surface is a loss for tape from the start.
- 4
The rail seats in a single movement
The double-layer rail is heavy. After the position is marked it is pressed once. Moving it afterwards lowers the grip power.
In Which Scenario Does an Adhesive Duette Make Sense?
Narrow kitchen and bathroom glass
At small size the double layer's weight stays inside the tape limit. A drill-free solution.
Tenant flats
Double-layer privacy and insulation without drilling the joinery. No mark on removal.
Undrillable joinery
The only option on new joinery under warranty or a surface not wanted to be drilled.
Temporary privacy need
A fast and reversible solution in a newly moved-into home.
Limits and Removal
The double-layer weight strains the tape's weakest moment. A bead plane warming in summer and a damp environment raise the risk. In a wide or double-cell duette combination tape is not recommended.
On removal the tape is loosened by warming and no mark stays on the surface. The tape residue is wiped. At new mounting the bonding plane is cleared of residue and fresh tape is drawn.
Tape Fatigue and the Usage Area
The two-way opening loads the tape in two directions. When the fabric is pulled bottom-up the tape works in the lifting direction. This repeated load change chooses the adhesive surface's fatigue test. A heat-resistant tape series is standard on a duette.
The adhesive duette's typical use is the single-sash bedroom and study-room window. The semi-blackout the double layer gives is enough in these rooms and the drill-free mounting fits the tenant constraint.
The Adhesive Duette's Suitable Usage Profile
The adhesive duette is the single-sash standard PVC joinery's solution: on sashes of 60-90 cm width the double-layer weight stays within the tape's safe share. On double-sash wide glass its own unit is fitted to each sash. Instead of one wide unit, two narrow units are right in both carrying and look.
The first-day rule hardens on a duette because of the double layer. The fabric package's weight is not loaded onto the tape immediately, the unit is kept closed and supported for 24 hours. This wait chooses the tape's yearly life.
Tape replacement comes up in the long term. In three-five years the tape loses its elasticity. The surface is renewed with the spare tape set and the unit is used as is. Tape replacement is not unit replacement. The cost difference is big.
