Adhesive Insect Screen

Adhesive insect screen — the fixed frame bonds to the joinery with tape. Weight limit, curing and mark-free removal; tenant-friendly.

The Drill-Free Connection's Logic

In the adhesive arrangement the frame is clasped to the joinery plane with industrial double-sided tape laid on its back face. Neither a screw hole is opened nor a retainer is fixed; the single binding element is the tape.

The load the fixed panel gives the tape consists only of its own weight; it carries no tension-producing mechanism. This case raises the tape's carrying chance but does not make it limitless. The limit is decided by the surface texture and the panel size.

The Bonding Order

The tape's strength is decided in the preparation; the application itself takes a minute.

  1. 1

    The plane is cleared

Dust, oil and silicone residue are removed from the surface. The tape holds not to the visible ground but to the micro texture.

  2. 2

The tape is laid end to end

The frame's back profile is covered with uninterrupted tape. Tape laid in pieces starts the corner lifting.

  3. 3

It is seated in one pass

The protective film is peeled and the panel is pressed to its alignment. Sliding it after touching spoils the bond surface.

  4. 4

    Pressure is applied

A strong hand press is run along the profile. During the curing time no load is applied to the panel.

The Tape's Limit Line

  • Wide and heavy panel

As the frame grows the weight strains the tape's shear resistance. At large sizes the screwed or clipped arrangement is chosen.

  • An opening fitted outside

An outer panel the wind catches directly is a heavy scenario for tape. At this position a mechanical connection is wanted.

  • Textured joinery surface

On a sandy, grained or veined surface the contact area drops. The tape stays on the peak points and lets go early.

  • Hot façade

A joinery surface taking noon sun directly warms. Standard tape stretches at heat and lets the grip go.

On Which Surface Is It Reliable?

The tape's behaviour changes by the texture it touches. The surface decision is given before mounting.

What Removal Leaves

While the panel is removed the tape is lifted from the edge and peeled off the surface; the remaining layer is wiped with a suitable cleaner. Since no drilling is done the joinery returns to its initial state.

Tape is a one-time binder. If the same panel will be refitted the old layer is fully cleared and fresh tape is laid; a half-remaining residue produces a weak point under the new bond.

Questions About Adhesive Insect Screen

How much does an adhesive insect screen carry?
It carries standard window panels comfortably; the weight grows with size. On a wide or double frame it is passed to a mechanical connection.
Does the paint lift when removed?
On a healthy painted surface the tape does not harm the paint. A layer already flaking may come together with the tape; the surface condition is checked beforehand.
Does the panel stay taped in winter?
It does; the tape holds in cold too. For a user having a regular removing habit the clipped arrangement is more practical instead of the re-taping cost.
