Blackout Pleated Blinds

The anthracite foil-layered fabric is cut to measure and matched with a dark-toned profile. The set is delivered in an installation-ready package.

Anthracite blackout does two jobs at once: the foil layer stops the light passing through the glass, the dark surface absorbs the reflection light inside the room. In a projection room the light returning from wall to screen spoils the contrast; the dark blind cuts this return.

In loft and industrial space it stands at the same weight with concrete, black metal and dark timber. While the blind is closed the window stops being a light source, it reads as a dark plane.

The only point to mind is the edge line: the thin light line produces a distinct contrast on dark ground. For this reason in anthracite bead installation is the priority recommendation.

Anthracite in the cinema room

Projection contrast is spoiled not only by incoming light but also by returning light. The light striking from screen to wall brightens the room and returns to the screen again. Light-coloured surfaces feed this cycle; the anthracite surface absorbs it.

If the blind is near the screen wall the effect grows: the dark blind also reduces the reflection around the screen at a glare moment. In stage darkness the anthracite background supports the image staying in focus.

The same physics works in the TV room — if the window is opposite the screen the anthracite surface removes the daytime reflection point.

The edge-line reality

Blackout fabric cuts the light on its surface; the only escape left is the edge gap. On a white surface this thin line blends into the eye but on anthracite the bright line produces high contrast on dark ground.

The solution is in the mounting: in bead installation the fabric sits on the glazing bead; the edge gap descends to the smallest share. In choosing anthracite this installation form is a technical, not aesthetic, recommendation.

In inside-recess and over-wall installation the edge share opens naturally. If the full-darkness sensitivity is high — shift sleep, cinema — bead and the dark surface should be considered together.

Loft and the dark palette

Concrete, black metal, dark walnut and smoke glass speak the same weight language with anthracite. In an industrial space a white blind stays foreign; anthracite integrates as a dark plane on the façade.

In homes with black joinery anthracite continues the frame — even while the blind is closed the window borders are preserved, the surface joins the frame's inner line.

The dark tone's risk of narrowing the space is real but is experienced on the wall, not on the window surface. Even while the anthracite blind is closed it reads not as a volume wall but as a focused plane.

Questions About Anthracite Blackout Pleated Blind

Does anthracite darken the room more?
Fabric passage is zero in all colours; the difference is on the surface. Since anthracite also absorbs the reflection light inside the room, the perceived darkness deepens.
Why is the line leaking from the edge distinct?
The contrast between the dark surface and the light line is high. Bead installation reduces the gap to the least; in anthracite this mounting form is recommended first.
Does it show dust?
Light-coloured dust is more visible on dark ground; however the pleated fold keeps accumulation at minimum. Weekly soft brushing suffices.
Does it stand heavy on a white wall?
It produces a deliberate contrast; it is balanced with black joinery or dark accessories. If it will be used alone it is a bold décor decision.
Anthracite or black?
Anthracite reads as dark as black but grey breathes inside the tone. The texture that black swallows fully stays on the surface in anthracite; the pleated folds are discernible with shadow.
