Ceiling-Mounted Zip Screen
Ceiling-mounted zip screen — the housing is screwed to the upper plane. Beam ground, channel alignment and the route leaving the wall free.
The Ceiling Set-Up Steps
The housing is carried above; the side channels descend accordingly.
- 1
The carrier line is found
The plane the housing will connect to is decided; on a pergola an aluminium beam, on a terrace a concrete ceiling is sought.
- 2
The housing axis is marked
The housing line is aligned with the opening axis. The plane the channels will descend is calculated from this axis.
- 3
The housing is screwed from above
The connection points are distributed along the housing length; the screw descends perpendicular to the upper plane and the housing stays suspended.
- 4
The channels are aligned
The side guides are lowered on the same vertical from the housing's two ends; a slip spoils the zipper's entry into the channel.
- 5
The system is commissioned
The fabric is passed into the channels and lowered a full cycle; the motor end points are set.
Connection by the Upper Plane
In a suspended set-up the carrier above decides the connection.
| Plane | Connection | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminium beam | Sheet-metal screw into the profile slot | The ready channel of pergola series is used |
| Concrete ceiling | Steel plug + screw | The plug opens to full depth; the load is asked only of the concrete |
| Timber beam | Wood screw into the main beam | Not the cladding board but the carrier is sought |
| Steel structure | Self-drilling screw | It descends guide-free into thin wall; the torque setting protects |
The Suspended Set-Up's Scenarios
Pergola and veranda
In open volumes having a top cover the housing is hung under the beam. The roof, not the façade, carries the screen.
An opening with no wall share
On full-height openings where no wall remains above the opening the housing must hold from above.
The line above a shopfront
On shop façades the housing is taken to the ceiling line above the storefront and assumes the shutter function.
A position standing out front
When the screen must run in front of the opening plane the ceiling is the only plane giving depth.
The Motor Feed's Place
When the housing is hung on the ceiling the motor and the feed line stay above too. The cable descent is planned through the channel or as a separate line; a line added later wanders in sight.
If a wind sensor is used its mounting is done together with the housing. The opening the sensor watches is the screen itself.
