Wall-Mounted Zip Screen

Wall-mounted zip screen — housing and side channels screw to the same wall plane. Plug ground and the most common zip connection.

The Single Plane's Importance

On a zip screen the housing and the two side channels share the same vertical plane. One staying in front or behind spoils the zipper's entry angle into the channel; the fabric does not clasp or strains.

In wall mounting the three parts face the same surface. For this reason the flat wall above the opening is the ground the system runs most smoothly on.

The Wall Set-Up Order

The housing line and the channel axes are marked together; if one slips the other spoils too.

  1. 1

    The housing line is levelled

The headrail is positioned above the opening with a level and its two ends are marked at equal level.

  2. 2

    The channel lines are dropped

The channels' vertical axis is drawn down from the housing ends; parallelism is verified with a laser.

  3. 3

    The points descend spaced

The housing connects from the top, the channels along their full length at intervals; the plug finds solid ground in the wall.

  4. 4

    The clasping is tested

The fabric is taken into the channels and lowered a full cycle; the zipper is seen to clasp equally on both sides.

Plug by Wall Ground

The ground the plug finds decides the connection's life.

ConcreteSteel plugThe safest ground; full depth is descended
BrickGeneral-purpose plugOn hollow brick the depth is increased
Aerated concreteAerated-concrete plugA standard plug does not hold on a porous ground
Over claddingLong plug into the carrierThe cladding thickness is added to the screw length

The Housing's and the Channel's Share

The channels ask for a wall share on the opening's two sides. On narrow edges the profile touches the joinery or does not fit; the side shares are noted separately at measuring.

On a system mounted to the wall the fabric width is grown beyond the joinery. The edge cover also cuts the wind's entering behind the fabric.

Questions About Wall-Mounted Zip Screen

Are channels fitted to a crooked wall?
Small deviations are compensated by the profile's own share. On a distinct slope a correction piece is placed behind the channel.
How many points does a wall mounting ask for?
It varies by the housing length and channel length. The channels connect along their full length at intervals because they share the load with the housing.
Does it fit a balcony's inner wall?
A sheltered inner wall is the ground the system runs most comfortably on. It is applied by measuring the side shares and the top level.
