Horizontal Zip Screen
The form for horizontal and sloped planes. The fabric travels on two side rails and works without bagging under counter tension.
The System’s Four Parts
In the horizontal form the tension holds the plane, the rails carry the fabric.
- Motorised CassetteThe rolling unit mounts on one edge of the opening. The fabric leaves the cassette and crosses the plane.
- Side Guide RailsTwo profiles carrying the fabric edges on the horizontal plane. The main element preventing sag.
- Tensioning UnitThe counter-pull system keeping the fabric taut on the plane. The sine qua non of the horizontal form.
- Carrying Bottom BarThe moving profile at the fabric tip. On reaching the open edge the tension is locked.
Application Areas
Three typical sections. In each, the cassette on one edge, the rails on two sides.
| Area | Application | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Glass Roof | Shading above winter-garden and roof glass | Cuts the heat above the glass |
| Pergola Top | Horizontal fabric covering the pergola opening | Twin rails on rectangular sections |
| Sloped Plane | Taut fabric on angled glass surfaces | The tensioning unit is set to the slope |
Standout Features
The technical meaning of top-down shading.
- Sag-Free SurfaceTwo rails + counter tension keep the fabric flat — no bagging on the horizontal plane.
- Heat ControlThe solar load cut above the glass never reaches the interior.
- Compact CassetteIn the closed position the fabric fits the cassette; the opening clears completely.
- Motorised StandardTravel and tension run on the motor; automation with sensors.
Questions About the Horizontal Zip Screen
Can the vertical zip be used horizontally?
Can it mount to a glass roof?
Does it carry a rain load?
The planes where the horizontally opening zip arrangement is used are shown in the application areas; its vertical counterpart is given on the vertical system.
Let Us Draw the Section Together
With the opening measurement, slope and carrying-profile data the right tensioning unit is recommended.
