FENETRE Systems — Insect Screen and Pleated Blind Systems

Roller Insect Screen

A gathering system whose mesh winds into a spring cassette — invisible when closed, no winter removal needed.

How Does the Winding System Work?

Unlike the fixed panel, the mesh here is moving and sheltered.

The heart of a roller insect screen is the spring reel in the top cassette: the mesh is pulled down by its bottom edge; when unused, the spring tension winds the mesh into the cassette. Closed, only a slim cassette line shows — it is an insect screen that behaves like a blind.

The spring tension does two jobs at once: it keeps the mesh taut and gathers it silently the moment it is needed. The bottom handle slides in the side rails; since the mesh edges stay inside the rails, the pest path is closed off.

There is no need to remove the panel in winter — the mesh is protected from dust and knocks inside the cassette. The remove-and-store cycle of the fixed screen ends here in a single motion.

The System's Standout Parts

The cassette-spring-side rail trio is the system's identity.

  • Winding MeshUnused mesh gathers into the spring cassette — it stays invisible.
  • No Winter RemovalThe panel stays in place; the mesh is protected from dust and knocks in the cassette.
  • Slim CassetteWhen closed, only a slim box line remains.
  • Spring BalanceThe mesh holds at every position — no snapping back.
  • One-Handed UsePulled from the bottom handle; the spring gathers itself.
  • Made to MeasureExact production for windows and slim joineries.

On Which Opening, a Roller?

The gathering solution for windows and seldom-used openings.

On a window, a roller is the cleanest solution: the screen descends only when needed and the open view is never broken. In minimal interiors the cassette line disappears into the joinery line.

On screens left open in summer and forgotten in winter, cassette protection extends mesh life. On a north façade the mesh stays in the cassette, so freezing and UV load decrease.

On doors and frequent passage, hinged or sliding is the more accurate option — the roller's territory is the window. Mesh choice does not change the system: pet screen or steel mesh winds into the same cassette.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a roller insect screen be used on a door?
A standard roller is for windows — on doors a vertical-winding or hinged system is preferred.
Does the mesh stop midway?
The spring balance holds the mesh at whatever height it is left; full gathering happens once the bottom catch locks.
What happens if the spring fails?
The spring is a service part inside the cassette — the system works again with a tension adjustment or a replacement.
Does it need removing in winter?
No — once the mesh gathers into the cassette it stays protected; it is pulled down and used in season.

The window and door types the roller mesh works on are listed in the application areas; the wide passage opening is solved in the sliding system.
