Surface-Mounted Pleated Insect Screen
Surface-mounted pleated insect screen — the frame sits on the joinery's outer face or the wall plane. No in-frame depth needed.
The Frame Sitting on the Surface
In surface fitting the insect-screen frame sits not inside the joinery cavity but on the joinery's front face or the wall plane around the door. The profile is seen with its own front face; it does not need to recess into the frame.
This position removes the depth condition. Every joinery having no in-frame cavity, having a dripped sash or a profile form not allowing recess fitting is a surface-fitting candidate.
Recess or Surface?
A summary of the two-position decision. The joinery condition and the wanted look direction decide.
| Criterion | Recess Fitting | Surface Fitting |
|---|---|---|
| Depth condition | In-frame cavity is needed | Not needed, it sits on the surface |
| Outer visibility | Unnoticeable from the façade | The profile's front face is visible |
| Dripped sash | Cannot be applied | Can be applied |
| Typical use | Window, behind-shutter | Door, balcony, wide opening |
When Is Surface Fitting Right?
Door openings
On the balcony and terrace door the frame sits on the door frame's front face. The passage line does not pass through the frame.
Joinery without depth
If the inner cavity is insufficient recess fitting physically cannot be set up. The outer surface always exists.
Dripped sash
A sash with a water-drainage protrusion closes recess fitting. Surface fitting is not affected by this form.
Double and wide opening
The 27 mm frame series and the double arrangement work in surface mounting. The load is handed to the wall with screws.
The Outer-Look Fact
In surface fitting the profile is visible and this is inevitable. Two things decide the look: the frame front-face width and the profile colour. Slim-fronted series and a colour choice matching the joinery push the frame to the background on the façade.
An outward-fitted frame contacts the weather directly. Since it works under wind, rain and sun the connection is expected to be screwed; the connection type is decided at mounting.
How Is the Measurement Taken?
In surface fitting the measurement is a finished measurement. The width and height between the outer edges the frame will sit on is read; a rebate line is not sought as in recess fitting. The measurement covers the opening the frame is wanted to close.
In a mounting spilling onto the wall plane the measurement gives not the joinery boundary but the opening. The flat wall share around the door frame is the real ground the profile will sit on and is confirmed at mounting.

Convey the Outer Measurement
Outer-edge-to-outer-edge width and height suffice. The wall plane is verified separately at mounting.
