Triangular & Trapezoid Window Pleated Blind

Pleated blind decision on triangular and trapezoid windows: fixed or moving on the architectural opening? Cut and rail detail on the system page.

Triangular & Trapezoid Window Analysis

The triangular, trapezoid and circular window does not fit the standard blind form. This opening carrying an architectural accent stays privacy-less without a blind. The pleated blind’s fabric is cut to the opening’s shape and closes the form. It fits the architecture with a fixed or moving system. The measurement is taken separately from every edge of the form.

Form-Specific Cut

The fabric is produced per the window’s geometry. The triangle’s peak point or the trapezoid’s sloped edge stays in the fabric.

Architectural Openings

On the window carrying an architectural accent like the entrance hall, the roof gable and the stairwell, a form cut is made.

Fixed or Moving

On non-opening form windows a fixed pleated blind, on opening ones a moving system is used. The function is taken per the form.

Privacy and Light

The light entering from the triangular window’s peak point is cut. Privacy is provided without distorting the opening’s form.

The Pleated Decision on Triangular and Trapezoid Windows

This page is for the space decision: is pleated suitable on a triangular or trapezoid window, is fixed or moving taken? The cutting template, the mitre rail and the form types are detailed on the triangular pleated system page.

On a non-rectangular glass form a blind is either never applied or produced to the form. On the triangular and trapezoid opening the pleated fabric is cut to the edge measurement. A fixed unit stays unmoving on the rail or a variant opening from the short edge is taken. The decision is provided per the form’s symmetry.

The measurement taking does not forgive error on this window: the edge length and the corner angle are needed millimetrically, a physical template is more reliable than a photograph — the glass’s real edge curve misleads in the photo. Template approval is a must before cutting; the unit produced with an approximate measurement does not sit on the form and there is no return for a custom cut.

The triangular glass on the roof gable wall is closed either with a single piece or with two units meeting at the symmetry axis. The single piece gives a seamless surface but its movement area is limited; the two-unit order opens from the middle, ventilation is provided without distorting the form.

In the trapezoid the usage decision is the edge position: the fabric always gathers from the wide edge toward the narrow edge; at the order the narrow edge’s place is marked.

On formed glass the blind expectation must be managed. The triangular and trapezoid unit is produced fixed or partially moving instead of full opening; even in the opening variant the gathering direction is single. The expectation clarifies before mounting.

In the architectural project the formed glass is the façade’s showcase; the blind must not close the effect, it must follow it. The fixed formed unit accentuates the glass’s geometry, it preserves the silhouette even when closed — a standard rectangular unit leaves a broken line on the same glass.

The fixed formed unit has no moving part: the fault risk is low, its maintenance consists of wiping the rail and the fabric with a damp cloth. The glass section left behind the unit is cleaned before mounting; afterwards it is reached from the edge line.

The decision boundary is the expectation: on formed glass no product gives full opening. If covering is the priority the pleated blind is sufficient; if heat insulation comes forward, honeycomb or duette is applied to the same form. This page covers the triangle and the trapezoid together; the cutting and system detail of the triangle-only form is on the triangular pleated system page.

Application Notes

Mounting & Selection for Triangular & Trapezoid Window

Form Measurement

The measurement is taken from every edge of the triangle or trapezoid. A form drawing or a template is required for production.

System Choice

The opening need and the window form are checked together. On a fixed form a moving system is unnecessary.

Fabric Fit

In the form cut the fabric’s folding direction must be compatible with the geometry. On printed fabric the form is built carefully.
