On-Sash Venetian Blind

On-sash Venetian blind — the rail screws to the sash's own profile. The blind turns with the sash and stays lowered in tilt position.

The Blind Bound to the Sash Itself

In an on-sash set-up the rail is screwed not to the wall or the recess but to the window sash's upper profile. The blind becomes part of the sash and turns together with it.

This structure produces a separate comfort on tilt-and-turn sashes. Even when the sash is brought to the tilt position the blind stays lowered and working; privacy is not interrupted.

What Sash-Bound Working Brings

  • Turning with the sash

Since the blind follows the sash, on inward-opening windows the hitting and jamming problem is not lived.

  • Working near the glass

Since the blind stays on the same plane as the joinery the edge light leak drops to the lowest values.

  • Sill freedom

The connection is on the sash profile. Sill, casing and wall surface ask for no share.

  • Mark-free leaving

The connection points are on the sash; the wall and the recess remain untouched.

Conditions of On-Sash Mounting

Sash form and blind weight decide the suitability. It passes four checks.

The On-Sash Mounting Order

If the screw line is given right the rest is seating and testing.

  1. 1

    The sash plane is probed

The flat section the upper profile will take a screw is found; the drip and the gasket line are left outside.

  2. 2

The rail is seated on the sash

The rail is fixed to the upper profile; the movement share on the handle side is preserved.

  3. 3

    The opening test is done

The sash is brought to both side opening and tilt position; the blind must touch no obstacle in any position.

  4. 4

    The chain is routed

The control chain is hung on a line not cutting the sash movement; if needed a chain retainer is fitted.

The Sash's Carrying Limit

Sash hinges are designed to carry their own glass weight. The blind is extra load and the limit grows with rail and slat weight; for this reason the on-sash set-up is recommended at standard aluminium sizes.

On a wide opening a single rail cannot be shared by two sashes. Each sash carries its own rail; the measurement is taken separately per sash and the products work independently.

Questions About On-Sash Venetian Blind

Does the blind fall while opening with the sash?
It does not; the rail is screwed to the sash and turns with it. During movement the blind can stay lowered or gathered.
Does driving a screw into the sash spoil the joinery?
The thin screw descends to the sash profile's upper plane and does not touch the gasket line. The holes can be closed at removal.
Is a separate blind needed per sash?
On a double-sash window each sash has its own rail and blind. A single rail binds the sashes to each other and blocks the opening.
